Global lithography equipment leader ASML has officially implemented a sweeping price adjustment for its Korean clients, announcing a 10% uniform price hike on all replacement spare parts for EUV and DUV lithography systems supplied to South Korea. The new pricing will take effect for all shipments delivered starting January 2027.
The adjustment covers every category of components, including routine consumables, core optical modules, light sources and critical system replacement parts, marking a rare full-scale price increase across the entire Korean product lineup.
Industry sources confirm that ASML’s Dutch headquarters delivered the price proposal to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix via its Korean subsidiary in early September 2026. Following procurement-level negotiations, both leading Korean memory chipmakers have accepted the full 10% price increase.
Market observers highlight that ASML historically adjusted prices selectively based on raw material costs and component scarcity. This blanket across-the-board hike demonstrates the company’s dominant pricing power and unrivalled position in the advanced lithography supply chain.
Higher maintenance costs will continuously pressure the operational budgets of Korean memory fabs. Rising equipment service expenses are expected to make Korean producers more conservative on capacity expansion and capital expenditure, indirectly affecting global DRAM and NAND supply trends.
In parallel, ASML is reportedly negotiating new pricing terms for new machine orders with major global clients. Further equipment price hikes would trigger a new round of cost inflation across advanced semiconductor manufacturing and reshape profit margins throughout the global chip industry chain.
